Services
Landworkshop provides landscape design services, construction installation and maintenance programs for residential and commercial clients.
The design team produces landscape plans and architectural construction drawings that support the installation sector who will implement and install the design. The maintenance team supports the installation component by properly maintaining the newly installed landscape; to care for new plant material and to continue the integrity of the design. Personal consultation sessions are conducted to introduce various product lines and installation methods; this helps educate our client regarding the overall process that will be incorporated in their new landscape. We take the time to research and recommend the most aesthetic materials, provide samples, talk with company representatives, and provide graphic renderings. We specialize in indigenous plant species, emphasize water conservation while focusing on residential ecology through innovative design solutions.
Design Process
Our design process is straight forward; it begins with gathering information and ideas that we can use to make sound decisions. An orderly approach is taken to solving problems and design solutions, which help develop an appropriate solution for the unique needs of the client and the particular site conditions. The process allows an explanation and reasoning for the design solution and how the final plan was derived. The design process can be applied in various residential and commercial categories.
Research & Preparation
Site inventory and analysis is conducted to establish the opportunities and constraints of the site, and to explore existing conditions. Site measurements are conducted, and then base map preparation and CAD work are performed to get the details down on paper and scaled. A design program is established to drive the design and assist the client in the overall vision.
Design Development
Once the necessary information is gathered preliminary design development commences by studying form and spacial composition. Concepts and functional diagrams are created to investigate the existing conditions, and design principles are applied. Preliminary budget is established for project costs that create realistic opportunities and constraints from a financial standpoint.
Master Plan & Budget
Upon client approval of the preliminary design, more refinement is conducted and details are presented. Material composition and costs are evaluated, and selections are integrated into the design. Final budgets are established and value engineering is performed as needed; phasing the project over time is another viable option presented. Generally, the master plan is completed before construction documentation and working drawings commence.
Construction Documentation
The construction documents and working drawings are essential to sufficiently implement the design as expressed in the overall master plan. These drawings are referred to as construction drawings (CD's) because they illustrate and explain to the installer how to implement and build the design. The drawings are a resource for bidding and outsourcing the work by others; including a reference for government and community agencies approval.
Visual Graphics & Sketch up
Our design team can generate a variety of visual graphic aids to better present the overall intent of the design. Plan view, elevation, and isometric views can be created to give a 3-D effect to the design and materials can be incorporated to show various styling options. This has become a valuable tool for our residential and commercial clients by saving them time and expenses; by enabling them to make a decision from a rendering before it has been constructed. Revisions are easily made at the planning stages which are completed before any resources are used. Material selection is vital to the overall look and feel of the design and our clients appreciate the opportunity to see how their investment is applied to the project.
Construction Installation
Using a variety of environmentally-friendly materials, sound installation principles and methods sets us apart from other design/build firms; and it reflects a growing global trend towards sustainable building practices for the residential/commercial projects . We facilitate the installation through construction administration and bring team members together to implement the installation; while keeping the project schedule moving forward to the desired design solution.
Construction Management
Our construction and project management team are responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and control of the project scope of work from commencement to completion. We install, manage, and sub-contract for other landscape architects, designers, and contractors within the landscape industry. Our construction experience with other industry professionals incorporate their vision and idea; and focusing on the project schedule, staging, workflow, communication, liability aspects, and budget. Quality workmanship and controls are an important element for a successful project; making sure that each trade is qualified to install the design and is accountable for their work. Often times we are called to correct and finish other contractors abandonment of the project, poor workmanship, and no attention to detail.
Irrigation System Repair
Our client base for irrigation repair has been both the homeowner and commercial property managers needing components repaired to their existing system. In most cases, this is a service call that needs repair in a timely manner. Performing irrigation conversions from conventional spray heads to sub-surface, drip irrigation has been something water districts around the area have encouraged; we have the knowledge base and methods to make the system function as it was intended. Most repairs are performed due to old/damaged components or incorrect installation methods from the time before. Give us a call or click on the link below to make an appointment to have a system tune up, repair, or drip conversion.
Sourcing & Building Material Exchange
We have an extensive network of vendors from the local area, region and importers from around the world that have products for any landscape. Typically, the challenge is locating a vendor who offers such products that you are seeking. Refer to our Resources page to see the vendors who we do business with, and feel free to browse their websites, links provided.
The building material exchange is a listing service for excess materials that buyers and sellers alike can browse and shop for products that are of interest. Many construction projects have some excess left-over building materials that are new; yet not enough to complete a new project that would otherwise be discarded in a landfill. Assisting the diversion of new, usable material waste from landfills; by offering them for a nominal fee can be positive for the environment and a cheaper avenue for a smaller project.
Maintenance & Sustainability
The approach when meeting with clients is to educate them on the plant material and common irrigation methods. We specialize in native and indigenous plant species, emphasize water conservation, and understand the garden theme and materials used in each landscape. We take the time to research and recommend the most aesthetic materials, provide samples, talk with company representatives, and provide graphic images showing future landscapes.
